Job dimensions
  • Plan, organize, direct and evaluate plant maintenance systems, personnel and activities.
  • Maintain inventory levels on tools, spare parts and other maintenance items within budgetary guidelines.
  • Improve the plant preventative and predictive maintenance program.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and perform Job Hazard Analysis for all new equipment.
  • Repair and maintain equipment, building and grounds.
  • Install and validate the performance of all line equipment and process systems.
  • Maintain insurance inspection records.  Coordinate appropriate action on all recommended changes.
  • Direct outside contractors in safety and supervise the work being completed.
  • Coach, train and lead all employees on the operations team.
  • Conduct problem solving activities with the team.
  • Be a member of the Plant Leadership team.
  • Addresses safety issues.
  • Monitor employees who are responsibility for housekeeping and routine maintenance
  • Actively promotes plant safety improvement and programs including Smartcard, Pure Safety, 5S and operator safety checklists.
  • Support Continuous Improvement through shop floor use of problem solving tools and Kaizen participation.
  • Manage purchasing, as authorized, to meet budget.
  • Supports implementation of 6 Box Rules
Activities

 

  • Practice and enforce safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations
  • Identify maintenance mechanical issues and assign resources to ensure repairs.
  • Use team oriented problem solving to identify and eliminate root causes of safety, quality and production concerns using A3 and B3 problems solving tools.
  • Actively participate in the hiring process of plant personnel
  • Maintain full compliance and support for overall company policies, procedures and practices
  • Demonstrated communication and supervisory skills and experience in industrial environment
  • Experience with advanced maintenance planning techniques and CMMS, ideally EAM
  • Knowledge and practice of lean manufacturing or 6 sigma techniques desirable
  • Previous experience in Inventory Control Systems and Kanban methodology preferred.
  • Ability to read machinery blue prints, (P&ID) required
  • Follows written instructions and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Must demonstrate sound decision-making and problem solving ability.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work with Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Lotus Notes, Outlook
  • Familiar with Lockout/Tagout requirements
  • Familiar with Behavior Based Safety

 

 

 

Context and environment

 

  • The job is 65% on the shop floor working directly with production employees, 35% administrative duties
  • The job involves working in a manufacturing environment.  Key drivers in the role are productivity improvement and cost reduction.

 

 

 

 

Accountabilities

  • Maintenance team adherence to Bostik safety policy and procedures
  • The purpose of the role is to assist in leading the site maintenance team to continuously improve equipment reliability and productivity at the site, while reducing operating cost.

Qualifications / experience required

  • 3+  years experience in a manufacturing environment in supervision or leadership role
  • Associates degree in Business, Industrial Operations Management, Engineering, related technical discipline or significant progress towards degree with estimated completion date.  Candidates with significant work experience which is equivalent to these degree requirements may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of manufacturing (production, logistics, maintenance)
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Material planning experience
  • QMS or related education in Lean, 6 Sigma and Theory of Constraints preferred
  • OSHA training preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Advanced skill level in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proven record in resolving conflict as opposed to creating conflict
  • Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience is required; experience of Mechanical Integrity at a PSM-covered facility desirable
