Job Dimensions

• Apply advanced knowledge of customer applications and products to provide appropriate product recommendations and support customer qualification processes including conducting customer on-site trials.
• Responsible for performing and managing lab testing/analysis to meet customer and market needs.
• Build knowledge of customer applications and products, provide appropriate product recommendations, and support customer qualification processes including conducting on-site trials.
• Be seen as an expert for a specific product line or application within the automotive marketplace.
• Maintain a safe laboratory environment in Farmington Hills Technical Center.

Activities

• Prepare and conduct technical training for customers and internal resources.
• Participate in and manage customer trials and line audits.
• Complete testing and test report for research requests.
• Lead the investigation of any customer concern as necessary.
• Bring valued solutions through broad market and material knowledge, working with Bostik processes to support customer interests, providing a consistent, positive customer experience.
• Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines, and Bostik-specific EHS expectations, and ensure any the Farmington Hills facility is working under compliance of said guidelines
• Manage or participate in Stage Gate projects as necessary.
• Represent Bostik technical interests at industry associations and trade shows and development of marketing collateral.
• Initiate and manage company allied supplier relationships.
• Actively use Salesforce.com through entry of customer visits, new contacts, leads, Technical Service Requests.
• Support the maintenance of product specifications through OEM testing.

This job supports current and new business opportunities through project work, customer trials, customer training, benchmarking and other tasks.  The Farmington Hills Technical team provides an exceptional level of service that creates value to our customers.  These activities are a differentiator for Bostik in the Durable Goods business and specifically in the automotive marketplace.

Accountabilities

• Work cross functionally with sales, R&D, marketing, and customer service to drive new business growth.
• Accountable for creating value for the customer by ensuring them safely using the right product for their application.
• Ensure the completion of Research Requests in a timely manner.

Qualifications/Experience Required

• Bachelor degree/equivalent in Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science, related technical field.
• 5+ years of relevant technical experience with hot melt adhesives in automotive interior, automotive exterior, BiW and sealants.
• Able to work on-site at Bostik’s Farmington Hills Michigan, USA Technical Center.
• Experience working with customers and understanding their needs.
• Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills.
• Proven project management and problem solving abilities.
• Aptitude for understanding business strategies and customer value creation.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.
