Business Manager – 3D

Our Arkema team is seeking a passionate and growth focused Business Manager to join our 3D business!  This role is based in our Exton, PA location, reporting directly to the Global Business Director, 3D Printing and has 1 to 2 direct commercial reports.  This role also builds and maintains a variety of matrix working relationships and engagement with sales, R&D, supply chain, technical service, product management, program management, manufacturing, HES, and Finance. 
 

JOB DIMENSIONS
 

This role is primarily accountable and holds responsibilities for regional (Americas) P&L ownership, budget, forecasting and long term planning for the business, monthly key reporting, validation for pricing & sales control and liaison to manufacturing development of CAPEX plans.  This role must also champion alignment with Coating Solutions segment global business strategy, and coordinate this with sales leadership and other regional business objectives/activities.   Other key dimensions for this role include:
 

  • Responsibility for sales and margin into the 3D market, supported by the plant. 
  • Delivering regional Market Growth strategies to deliver sustainable sales growth for the product lines in these business segments aligned with 3D’s global long-term growth strategies.
  • Maximizing the 3D P&L to insure overall EBITDA growth targets by balancing product mix and the impact on plant structural costs.
  • Leading regional Market Management, promotion, and application development for all products/customers in these business segments
  • Coordinating with other regions to develop strategies for global accounts.
  • Leading/directing the development of new high value product positioning in market segments, as well as the development and implementation/communication of operational strategies and 5-year planning.
  • Developing and maintaining all internal and external market information for these segments.
     

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Maximize 3D EBITDA
 

  • Develops and implements strategy to aggressively grow business while maintaining EBITDA at target levels
  • Coordinates with plant management and tollers, via the S&OP process, to align plant staffing with overall demand on a 12-month rolling cycle.
     

Americas Market Strategy
 

  • Establishes forward looking / sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Synthesizes customer and market information into market summaries to build market strategies for segments.
  • Gathers and establishes competitive intelligence plan for all applicable segments
  • CRM calls to strategic market targets, market development, good understanding of market trends and follow-up.
  • Leads the coordination of business development (BD), R&D and Technical assistance to customers and resolves open issues.
  • Leads and participates in market conferences and technical seminars as appropriate.
  • Leads execution on product line strategy with TS&D manager and R&D director.
     

Customer Management
 

  • Builds relationships with key contacts in designated markets.
  • Segments customers to allocate appropriate resources and support structure.
  • Negotiates contracts specific to North American customers in conjunction with Arkema guidelines.
  • Establishes supply contracts and consignment stock agreements, when necessary, and ensures maintaining compliance of all such existing documentation.
  • Develops, maintains and updates pricing for customers.

 

Business Planning
 

  • Represents 3D business in the S&OP process and leads the monthly business financial forecast process for these segments.
  • Maintains 12-month rolling forecast for all product sales.
  • In collaboration with Global Finance, develops improved tools to enable better tracking and analysis of business from a financial perspective.
  • Leads and implements the budgeting process for this business segment and the formulation assets.  Supports Americas and global budgeting process.
  • Maintains/updates databases as required providing price/volume forecasts.
     

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
 

  • Territory:  Americas
  • 30-40 % U.S. travel; limited international travel
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
     

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business or related.  Graduate Degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in business development, product and market management roles preferred with exposure to Engineering, Operations, Procurement, R&D and Sales and Business Development with a broad understanding of the industry, market conditions and competition
  • Experience in leading market teams preferred
  • Ability to use company business software (SAP, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation skills
  • Flexibility to travel
