Situation in organization

 The Supply Chain Director reports to the Global Supply Chain Director and BU General Manager. 


Job dimensions

 Supply Chain Director manages a complex Supply Chain organization while planning and executing the regional and global Supply Chain strategy. Optimize working capital and coordinate with BU in order to maximize profitability via global customer segmentation and rules to serve strategy.



Key Activities and responsibilities


Lead Supply Chain operations for Ashland plants, tolling operations, and import of product, including: 

  • Supports the development of global supply chain strategy and lead regional operations.
  • Responsible for optimized working capital and execution costs while meeting customer service targets, to provide optimal business and financial results
  • Develop business cases for changes in supply chain operations/capital expenditures; including, but not limited to: debottlenecking, staffing, equipment purchases/releases, lease arrangements, changes in distribution network, customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Support the commercial team by developing a balanced supply of material and associated logistics requirements that align with inventory targets, corporate global working capital goals and the customer service offer
  • Execute strategies for capital investments and M&A; Manage global flows of material
  • Integrate and manage tolling operations and logistic services consistent with the supply chain strategy and cost objectives
  • Manage master data integrity: creation/change/obsoleting requests
  • Champion the REACTS transportation safety incident reporting process
  • Be an active member of Business Leadership Team and strategic partner to the business leader


Lead the Sales and Operations Planning, Execution and Supply Chain Performance management, including:


Manage the Supply/Demand process:

  • Identify and resolve key issues and imbalances, including production capacity, logistics equipment or carrier availability, sales deviations, raw material supply issues, etc.
  • Utilizing the SC SMART KPI dashboard, develop and track appropriate metrics to drive results and continuous improvement
  • Partner with manufacturing and tolling sites to improve production scheduling and raw material procurement
  • Responsible for working capital management required to meet or exceed financial targets of the division through control of inventory levels, product quality, and freight / logistics costs vs. net sales. 
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and loss management by ensuring that inventory reconciliation is done in accordance to corporate guidelines  
  • Optimize plant, warehouse, and customer consigned inventory by setting stock levels based on BU rules to serve and customer segmentation
  • Drive improvement in forecast accuracy and production schedule adherence.
  • Report performance to Global Supply Chain Director; identifying gaps and outlining corrective actions
  • Leadership of the regional S&OP process and execution of the global strategy and related transportation/equipment


Manage the logistics execution plan:

  • Evaluate the transportation data against the defined logistics strategy
  • Ensures domestic and export transportation is strictly in line with safety and security regulations
  • Develop and track appropriate metrics to drive results and continuous improvement


Lead Supply Chain initiatives to support business and process improvement, including digitalization: 

  • Serve as the gate-keeper for new product development or business initiatives
  • Responsible for developing a plan that supports the scale-up and commercialization of new products
  • Lead the implementation of new product flows and distribution patterns regionally and globally
  • Drive, contribute to, and validate the BU Service Offer. Align service offerings among the regions to the extent practical.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of digital initiatives, reporting, and process/performance improvement. Drive the adaptation of tools by the broader organization.
  • Identify and manage swaps and negotiate trading opportunities, as applicable
  • Provide SAP expertise on tools used for execution, reporting and process/performance improvement
  • Lead the implementation of processes and tools for improved inter-region activities as designated by the Supply Chain Directors
  • Drive the adaptation of tools for performance improvement
  • Knowledge of working capital levers to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Monitor adherence, performance and financial impacts


Talent Management and Development of team 

  • Active involvement in talent management process to attract, develop and retain talent in alignment with the organizational strategy and needs of the business
  • Develop overall supply chain talent via cross training, assignments, formal education, and mobility for succession planning and identify cross discipline talent for supply chain roles
  • Support teamwork via group initiatives, management meetings, communications and cross functional assignments
  • Manage directly Regional Supply Chain team


Context and environment

 This position is based in Wauwatosa Wisconsin, with ~30% travel expected

  • This position is a focal point for the business and manufacturing, and works as a liaison between Global Supply Chain, Business Managers, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Finance, Marketing, Regulatory, Third Party terminals, warehouses, suppliers, competitors and carriers, etc. to optimize all aspects of the regional supply chain
  • This position leads necessary activities to ensure the operating plans can be executed and meet the commercial demands, and lead activities to resolve problems that do occur
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc(e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents


Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or Technical field, MBA Preferred                         
  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics and Customer Service:                                         
  • Experience in Transportation Management Systems required             
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills) required
  • Forecasting and performance measurement/management software knowledge required
  • Experienced in Power BI Dashboards
  • SAP including MM/PP, SD and F&P                                                                          
  • Deep Project Management experience required, Project management software experience a plus                           
  • 7+ years supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience with implementation and use of performance metrics
  • Logistics and DOT experience/knowledge required; HAZMAT preferred
  • Understanding/management of working capital
  • Process Mapping Experience
  • CSCP/SC Certification preferred       
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in driving change and continuous improvement
  • International business experience preferred
