Lab Technician V

 

Situation in organization: This position reports to the Sr. Group Leader

 

Job dimensions: This position performs base resin synthesis, formulation and quality control testing of resin products, property testing, and adhesive performance testing. Additional duties include assisting in general lab maintenance and organization, recording & organizing data, and communicating results in a technical report and/or presentation.

 

Activities:

  • Run lab scale polymerizations, formulate products, evaluate performance of formulas, document and analyze results
  • Perform analytical procedures proficiently and interpret the results
  • Perform adhesives performance testing accurately and timely
  • Participate in special projects at the direction of senior level scientists
  • Proper and safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemical wastes and non-hazardous lab wastes.
  • Provide and track lab training.
  • Maintain clean and safe work conditions reporting problem areas to Management.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean working environment
  • Maintain accurate records in laboratory notebook
  • Other duties or training as required or requested.
  • Maintain current knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures and Safety Data Sheets for all materials used in the laboratory.

Qualifications / experience required

  • BA/BS degree in a related field, preferably Science or Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 Year of Chemical Laboratory Experience required with degree
  • Strong attention to details, responsible for accuracy of data and precision of test equipment
  • Ability to work in a laboratory handling chemicals, conducting experiments, operating analytical equipment
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment where equipment and ideas are shared
  • Strong computer skills (excel, word, PowerPoint) and the ability to compile data accurately
  • Follow all safety rules, work safely, participate and/or lead laboratory safety initiatives
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
