Hiring for Surface Prep Specialist for Bostik Consumer and Construction in the TX Region.


The job involves working directly with installation contractors to create demand for surface preparation products.  It also involves succinct coordination between distribution customers and existing Territory Managers. Making Down Channel Sales Calls are part of the surface prep specialists role. This position also involves the on boarding of new contractors who buy through distribution.


This is a remote role requiring extensive travel to Distributor locations and Down Channel Contractor locations up to 75% of the time. 


Key Accountabilities


  • Liaison for Marketing Team / Sales Management to identify key territory opportunities.
  • Responsible for selling Surface Preparation Systems for C&C Business Unit in the Region
  • Manage & Grow Bostik Surface Preparation Accounts covering assigned territory.
  • Execute and implement the Bostik Surface Preparation Sales market plan
  • Identify product gaps, customer gaps, and responsible for creating down channel value through product, industry, and technical expertise. 


Specific Activities


  • Work closely with Regional Sales Manager/SLU Business Develop Manager to define Targets and Goals.
  • Work closely with installing contractors on job sights creating pull though demand
  • Working closely with Building owners, General Contractors and Specifiers
  • Trouble shoot installation and application problems in the field
  • Conduct product demo’s in the field
  • Work with RSMs, TM’s promoting down channel demand creation
  • Provide on-going information on industry advances and product needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage accounts, prepare timely sales reports, and provide technical needs.
  • Coordinate and execute job starts with down channel contractors on site
  • Trouble shoots jobsite problems and facilitate technical solutions for the contractors.
  • Use as part of CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
  • Drives sales through trade associations, and national buying groups




  • Bachelor’s Degree – Business or related field preferred
  • 5+ Years of Experience in Surface Preparation Sales working direct with Installation SLU contractors. 
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation flooring marketplace and industry applications, conduct job site product training
  • Ability to perform hands on demonstrations with surface prep flooring products, lift up to 50 pounds
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, listening, organizational agility, and presentation skills
  • Able to Travel 75% of the time.  Territory requires overnight hotel stays, air travel as well as extended drive times (up to 4 hours at a time)
  • Skilled with computer, Word, Excel, Power Point.  Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time during full office days (8 hours)
  • Familiarity with Preferred
  • Familiarity with surface prep installation equipment, concrete preparation, and competitive products.
