Process Engineer

 

REPORTING TO:

The Process Engineer reports administratively to the Site Engineering & Reliability Manager in Conyers, GA and receives functional consultation from the Regional Process Technology Lead within Bostik NA. 

 

JOB DIMENSIONS:

•Serves as the gatekeeper/owner/subject matter expert of site manufacturing process technology & associated competencies (including process safety information packages).

•Leads improvement projects & initiatives for (re-)establishing manufacturing process max. demonstrated capabilities or new entitlements through enhancements in facilities/equipment, processes, and/or people.

•Governs manufacturing process technology that produces quality products with high confidence according to customer service level expectations.

•Employs inherently safe manufacturing designs in process technology using Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPs) and/or other standards (regulatory, industry, corporate, etc.) for safe, compliant manufacturing operations.

•Provides day-to-day process engineering technical support & consultation for all site-related manufacturing processes.

•Mentors/Coaches, and provides process engineering technical guidance to all site resources.

            

ACTIVITIES:

•Practices Safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA guidelines, and Arkema-specific EHS expectations.

•Monitors/Validates/Optimizes/Debottlenecks all aspects of site’s manufacturing processes.

•Leads trouble-shooting, root-cause analysis (RCA)/problem solving for manufacturing process issues and implements corrective/preventative action planning.

•Develops/Executes design of experiments (DOEs) for manufacturing trial plans.

•Project-manages site projects and initiatives (both cost & capital).

•Provides process engineering gate-keeping/liaising and/or functional lead for business-led projects and initiatives.

•Serves as Management of Change element lead for site.

•Creates, and/or provides ‘Consult’ in, Quality Standard Procedure and Work Instruction development, as necessary.

•Leads, and/or provides ‘Consult’ in, RCA and responses to Non-Conforming Material Requests and Customer Quality complaints.

•Assists in maintaining current plant P&ID’s.

•Leads Waste and Energy reduction initiatives throughout plant.

 

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT:

•A fast paced, high pressure environment where you are involved in a wide variety of functions and activities.

•You will participate in projects, initiatives, and activities across all functions within, at all levels of, the business.

•Travel as business needs dictate.

•Heavy use of computer software, both PC based and enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, with chemical industry experience, advanced degree a plus.

•3 years, minimum, experience in a manufacturing process environment.

•Demonstrated proficiency working in a Process Safety Management (PSM) manufacturing environment preferred.

•Demonstrated experience with a highly developed Environmental, Health and Safety Program.

•Proven analytical/problem-solving skills based on data.

•Working knowledge in Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control.

•Six Sigma Green Belt certification ideal.

•Understands concepts involving 5S, Visual Performance Management, and Leader Standard Work.

•Must demonstrate sound judgment, be well organized, take initiative, and be flexible to facilitate resolution of complex issues.

•Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.

•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities is required.

•Must be able to drive results and work effectively with teams.

•Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
