Job title:

Site Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist

Situation in organization (enclose a copy of your organization chart): Reports to Manufacturing Excellence Manager. No direct reports

Job dimensions:

  • Analyze the needs of various site organizations
  • Determine areas most in need of improvement
  • Assess the potential return on investment of projects/initiatives
  • Work with site organizations to facilitate change
  • Track the effects of changes on ROI, production quality, and operational efficiency
  • Supports Conyers plant in aspects of continuous improvement (lean, operational excellence)
  • Supports Conyers Plant Leadership team (PLT) in driving cultural and process improvements to improve quality and productivity throughout the facility

Activities:

  • Lead key projects/initiatives utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and best practices to drive improvements throughout the site
  • Develop and support implementation of Zero Loss modelling tools across site organizations
  • Develop and support implementation of continuous improvement tools across site organizations
  • Train site employees on use of continuous improvement methodologies, tools, practice, and techniques. Utilize standard problem solving tools (i.e. B3, A3, 5Y, and fishbone diagrams) in conjunction with SMART elements to foster a culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Lead Kaizen, B3, A3, Root Cause Analysis, and other problem-solving events
  • Practice and reinforce Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and actions in all activities
  • Lead implementation of Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence Culture
  • Understand Bostik business strategies and recommend CI initiatives to drive performance improvement
  • Develop Plant VSMs, capacity models, and provide guidance on improvement plans for optimized implementation
  • Drive standardization in processes across the plant

 

Context and environment:

  • Capable of delivering results in diverse environments including the manufacturing floor and Business Team meetings
  • Ability to identify, assess, prioritize and manage Risk
  • Ability to facilitate conflict and achieve resolution
  • Must be comfortable and capable of interacting at all levels of the organization (CEO through manufacturing operator)
  • Provide feedback / push Business Team or PLT members for improvement & employee engagement
  • Properly manage confidential information

 

Accountabilities:

  • Educate, facilitate, support, and coach the organization in implementation of CI methodologies
  • Assist leaders and managers with defining and implementing improvement initiatives and strategies

 

Qualifications / experience required:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, and TOC approach, methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Experience in Statistics, Excel, Capacity models, and Leading Kaizen events
  • Strong Project Leadership skills + successful completion of large / urgent / cross functional initiatives
  • Certification in Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems using a variety of problem solving methodologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills  --  ability to influence Business leaders, Management teams, Project teams, individuals, and Operators
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal 1 on 1 or group)
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Manufacturing or equivalent work experience
  • Business Literacy: translate the financial needs of the business into process improvements and standard business practice
