JOB SUMMARY

This position is in the Engineering and Reliability Department and reports to the Engineering and Reliability Manager.

Static Equipment Reliability engineer:

  • Provides guidance on static equipment design/specification, performs fitness for service evaluation using 3rd party contractor, perform bolted joint assembly torque calculations, select compatible gaskets based on process condition, review current piping specification/fluid code and make revisions as applicable
  • Drive continuous improvement for static equipment reliability at Arkema Clear Lake Plant in collaboration with Arkema North America Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CFME) on key reliability initiatives.
  • Leads/supports static equipment, including process piping, rerate evaluations using 3rd party contractors.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using
  • Supports Arkema Clear Lake Mechanical Integrity, Maintenance, Operations, Turnaround, Capital Project, Process Technology, and HES teams.
  • Accountable for interaction in a team environment and works closely with plant personnel and contractors.
  • Must provide metrics and accountability driven leadership and show a high degree of self-motivation and initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily static equipment reliability activities - 40%
    • Leadership- accountability for development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Clear Lake Plant static equipment reliability program to become model for other plants in Coating Solutions Platform
    • Responsible for establishing appropriate team to set targets and continuously improve for static equipment reliability to ensure static equipment reliability is managed at acceptable risk levels.
    • Drive static equipment reliability program to ensure timely completion of the action items and incident investigations due to fixed equipment failure.
  • Communication -5%
    • As part of corporate CFME pool of resources, facilitate static equipment reliability Best Practice Sharing across Arkema North America (where appropriate)
    • Works effectively with several cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
    • Accountable to assist plant management in establishing an acceptable level of risk for static equipment reliability across the plant
    • Provides strategic insight to the site static equipment annual operating cost, strategic plan, and capital budget
    • Being the recognized expert of static equipment reliability, standards, and maintenance
    • Accountable for communication of static equipment reliability status to appropriate stakeholders
  • Failure Analysis - 15%
    • Leadership accountability to ensure that data collected is accurate and addresses the appropriate failure modes for fixed equipment at the facility
    • Responsible to ensure that adequate resources are available to perform any required fitness for service evaluations or failure analyses
    • Provide management team with well written and oral presentations with necessary information and supporting analysis to make appropriate business decisions.
    • Develop/approve equipment repairs per local/national codes and RAGAGEPs.
  • Evaluate failure areas to propose material of construction and other design changes to be used in the capital plan. Document Management - 5%
    • Leadership accountability to ensure that procedures are in place to define static equipment reliability strategies based on evaluated or expected risk
    • Utilizing proper Arkema documentation systems as the location for all records in static equipment reliability program
  • HES Support and MOC Actin Items – 5%
    • HSE responsibilities include but are not restricted to those outlined in Leadership expectations such as reporting any incident in a timely manner.
    • Ensuring safe procedures and processes followed by all team members.
    • Championing continuous improvement for the department in all areas of HES
    • Ensure static equipment reliability program meets/exceeds local/national regulatory compliance/RAGAGEPs.
  • Plant Support – 30%
    • Provide input into the plant fixed and capital budgets to ensure static equipment improvement plans are budgeted.
    • Accountable to ensure equipment falling below the acceptable level of risks is mitigated in a timely fashion.
    • Fostering a productive working relationship between Engineering and Reliability, production, maintenance, HES, and process technology departments.
    • Guides plant in following maintenance welding/ASME/API procedures
    • Developing an effective look ahead program to manage static equipment reliability and integrate into Turnaround (TAR) planning and capital project budgeting.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS #LI-MS1

Min Years of Experience

  • Minimum 5-year experience in Chemical or Petrochemical Manufacturing environment.

Education and area of focus

 

  • Minimum-BS Degree in Mechanical engineering

Certifications/Trainings:

  • API 510, 570, 571, 653, or 936 certification is plus.

  • Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEPs including ASME, API, ASTM
  • Plant Condition Management Software (PCMS) and SAP experience is plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents
