I&E Supervisor

This position is in the Maintenance Department and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager

Job dimensions

The I&E Supervisor will supervise the I&E technicians and interface with the appropriate maintenance and manufacturing groups to ensure the highest level of safety, productivity, work quality and reliability for all instrumentation and electrical maintenance activities.

Key Activities and responsibilities

  • Oversee troubleshooting, repairs, calibration, and new installation tasks for instrumentation work assigned according to daily/weekly maintenance schedule - 60%
  • Oversee troubleshooting, repairs, switching, isolation, and new installation tasks for electrical work assigned according to daily/weekly maintenance schedule - 20%
  • Update maintenance coordinators with job status and submit repair reports and documentation to meet ISO requirements. – 10%
  • Oversee the staffing requirements of the I&E techs including the I&E progression plan and contractor oversight – 10%

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Ensure repair reports are properly documented and filed in the appropriate location
  • Interface with the reliability department for long-term improvement items
  • Approve time for Arkema I&E personnel and contractors
  • Complete performance appraisals for I&E maintenance staff
  • Attend meetings (safety, maintenance planning, reliability, contractor management, and production)
  • Monitor I&E maintenance spend and approve purchase requisitions
  • Provide weekly updates on jobs lasting more than one week
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis and Incident Investigations
  • Perform cost analysis for repair versus replacement of equipment
  • Analyze I&E problems when they arise and find effective solutions
  • Ensures that I&E equipment and spare parts are ordered as needed and validate spare parts are maintained appropriately
  • Assist as needed with reliability group for the quality and cost associated with I&E work performed by outside repair shops
  • Publish weekly reports for management pertaining to manpower utilization, productivity, equipment repair status, project status, reliability and forecasting
  • Ensure the adherence to I&E maintenance procedures and drive overall safety performance of tasks performed

  • Must adhere to the Arkema Electrical Safe Work Practices Policy and Guidelines for the CLO site
  • Must be available to work extended hours, weekends, holidays and after hour
  • Perform elevated work on scaffolding and aerial lifts (JLG, scissor lifts)
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience

  • High school diploma with minimum 10 years field maintenance experience with I&E
  • Instrument or Electrical Technical degree / Certification preferred
  • Computer skills required
  • Familiarization with NEC and NFPA 70E
  • Knowledgeable in motor control systems
  • Knowledgeable in all types of industrial instrumentation and process control loop systems
  • Skilled in interpreting electrical diagrams/schematics and loop drawings
  • Skilled in Instrument and Electrical terminologies and maintenance processes
  • Knowledgeable in transformer maintenance and troubleshooting process
  • Knowledgeable with substation maintenance and isolation processes
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting of electrical control circuitry and distribution systems

Demonstrated Competencies

  • Good written and oral communication skills to interface with operations and maintenance personnel
  • Ability to follow maintenance procedures for equipment
  • Ability to read, understand and utilize equipment drawings and P&ID’s
  • Works well in teams
