Digital Transformation Specialist / eDMS Job

This position reports directly to the Director, Manufacturing and Services Support, and has no direct reports.

Arkema has begun its digital transformation, which presents immense, largely unexplored new potential opportunities to not only increase efficiency, but also design novel digital products and processes. The role of eDMS / Digital Transformation Specialist involves identifying problems that can be solved through digital solutions, developing in-house solutions using a variety of tools and programming languages, identifying and implementing new digital solutions on the market, serving as a subject matter expert and developer for digital solutions, and providing ongoing support to users. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for maintaining the digital presentation deck, project list, and catalog, and building a positive working relationship with site personnel.
The specialist is also responsible for gaining knowledge and serving as the subject matter expert and developer for the SharePoint Online Electronic Document Management System (eDMS) solution, leading the rollout of new eDMS sites, and enhancing the existing eDMS infrastructure, code, and tools.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
(35%) – Identify / build / sustain digital solutions:
- Identify problems that could be solved by digital solutions; make recommendations and develop implementation outline
- Develop in-house digital solutions via Excel, Power Automate, MS Forms, PowerBI, Power Apps, JavaScript/other programming languages
- Find new digital solutions on the market, and apply the offering to the plant / problem to be solved.
- Serve as Arkema’s SME and developer for digital solutions, and provides ongoing support to the users.
- Monitor implemented digital solutions to ensure they are being maximized to their full potential.
(30%) – Digital project implementation:
- Apply a thorough knowledge and understanding of the digital solutions and effectively lead their implementation.
- Identify potential technical and/or process implementation issues and develop solutions. Incorporate solutions into future implementation plans as appropriate.
- Track progress of digital projects.
- Control, track, communicate, and operate within the annual budget allotted to each project.
- Ensure a sustainable training system is in place for the digital solutions implemented.
- Prepare appropriate progress reporting to stakeholders.
(5%) – Digital teams
- Maintain the digital presentation deck.
- Maintain the digital project list and catalog.
- Build a climate of trust and respect with each site. Establish a sound working partnership with site personnel to ensure objectives are achieved and incorporate the voice of the customer so solution meets customer and business needs today and into the future; generate an atmosphere of eagerness to get the digital offerings.
(20%) – eDMS project implementation / sustainability
- Gain knowledge, and serve as Arkema’s SME and developer for the SharePoint Online eDMS solution, and provide ongoing support to the eDMS users across the globe.
- Lead the complete rollout of new eDMS sites.
- Enhance the existing eDMS foundation, infrastructure, code, and tools it is operating based on feedback from the rollout sites, and approved by the eDMS Steering Team, to ensure we have a complete eDMS tool.
- Ensure appropriate communications and training are developed to maximize use of digital solutions.
(10%) – eDMS project implementation / teams
- Develop project controls procedures to maintain project effectiveness and facilitate maintenance of solutions after implementation. Project control procedures shall encourage standardization and compliance across multiple sites.
- Preempts potential problems and/or provides effective solutions in reaction to application concepts, techniques, knowledge or processes.
- Provide training for all document management processes and applications to all plant staff.
- Maintain relationships and stay aligned with the Asia and Europe business process owner(s) to ensure we have one common global tool. Influence global process direction as appropriate.
Context & Environment
- This position will have an office at the Arkema Clear Lake facility, but open to candidates potentially having an office at another Arkema location.
- Up to 50% domestic and international travel required for this role.
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering discipline required; Chemical Engineering strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of Engineering experience with prior experience in a manufacturing/plant environment is preferred.
- Experience with coding languages or ability to learn Excel, Power Automate, MS Forms, PowerBI, Power Apps, JavaScript, VBA, JSON, HTTP, and other programming languages
