This position reports directly to the Quality Manager.  This position has no direct reports.


Perform quality control testing of raw materials and products, and maintain the record keeping and work instructions required for the ISO program.


Process & Procedure Duties 90%:

  • Ensure safe laboratory practices are followed for tasks performed in laboratory, and safe handling of chemicals and other laboratory supplies
  • Perform laboratory analysis of raw materials, finished products, and shipment samples, rejecting non-conforming raw materials and finished products.
  • Operate computerized laboratory instrumentation, such as the Gas Chromatography, the Gel Permeation Chromatography, and the High Performance Liquid Chromatography.
  • Perform periodic maintenance and calibration procedures on laboratory equipment (e.g. gas chromatography, automatic titrators, pH meters, viscometers, etc.) and keep records of the tests
  • Populate and back-up databases. Maintain electronic data and hard-copy records, as required.
  • Make independent decisions about laboratory generated data and problems
  • Communicate effectively with plant personnel

Safety & Other Duties 10%:

  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with handling various chemicals
  • Understand plant environmental health and safety regulations and comply with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements
  • To follow the direction of the QC Lab Leader or Shift Leaders.
  • Housekeeping and other duties as assigned.



  • The position requires working on rotating shifts (24/7 operations) at the discretion of supervisory and management personnel.
  • The position will periodically require overtime to meet production schedules.
  • No travel is required.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g. respirators and chemical resistant clothing, hard hats, safety eyewear, etc.) that may be required at times will increase the level of physical stress experienced by workers.
  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with maintenance and repair activities in a chemical manufacturing facility. 
  • Retain knowledge of basic chemistry and chemical hazards and apply this knowledge in daily work activities.
  • Make independent judgments concerning assigned tasks, considering safety and environmental concerns
  • Safely wear and/or use required personal protective equipment.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.



  • The minimum educational or experience requirement is a 2 year technical chemistry degree or 5-7 years of related laboratory experience. 
  • Computer literacy, with experience in Excel, Word, and Access software. 
  • Physical requirements include continual standing, and frequent walking and climbing stairs in the plant. 
  • Maintain training required to ship hazardous and dangerous goods internationally and domestically

  • Ability to independently utilize Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the protection of the individual, coworkers and the environment.
