Job Title:      Maintenance Mechanic (Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Craftsperson)

This position reports directly to the Plant Engineer. This position has no direct reports.



Perform maintenance and repair work required to keep process machinery, equipment and the structures of the facility in good repair and operating properly. Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.




Technical & Routine Workload 40-80%:

  • General repairs of plant process equipment to ensure optimal production and plant safety.
  • Including repairs and installation to include but not limited to the following equipment:  Piping, tubing, and fittings, plumbing, diaphragm air pumps, centrifugal pump, positive displacements pumps, fan and blower, valves, bearings and seals replacement,
  • Routine operations of plant utilities:  boiler systems, water systems, air compressor and nitrogen generator, water and chemical levels, conductivity and low level alarms checks to and troubleshoot problems.
  • Perform various maintenance skills such as: Pipefitting, Machining, Welding, Insulating, Grounds maintenance, Carpentry, basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge and masonry work, rigging and lifting.
  • Basic rare repairs: Basic welding in shielded arc or metal inert gas, oxy acetylene burning.
  • Perform scheduled Preventive Maintenance on equipment as required by manufacturers’ recommendation or by plant’s SOPs like: Lubrication, filters replacement, belts, check and replace, basic vibration check, pressure vacuum breaker check,
  • Routine usage of mechanic tools: manual tools, grinder, drill, cut-off saw bench side grinder, Porta-band saw, impact tool, threading tools, come-along, chain falls, electric hoist, scale, ruler, tapes, micrometer, fixed gauges, torque wrench.


Planning & Reporting Workload 20-40%:

  • Receiving quotes and preparing requisitions.
  • Monitor and follow-up of mechanical plant equipment.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory to ensure plant reliability.
  • Make recommendations for purchase of parts and supplies, including piping, tools.
  • Utilize SAP for corrective and preventive work order tracking.
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs/records for daily boiler, cooling tower, chiller, and compressor inspections, and other necessary preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to management and peers.


Safety & Other Assigned duties 10-20%:

  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by Plant Management
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.



  • This position works a 5/8 shift schedule. Typically Monday through Friday.
  • This position may periodically require overtime, on call, or a modified schedule to ensure that production needs are met.
  • Work is primarily performed outside during all seasons.
  • No travel is required.
  • This position requires ability to lift 55 pounds regularly, hoisting and frequent walking and climbing stairs and ladders. 
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g. respirators and chemical resistant clothing, hard hats, safety eyewear, etc.) that may be required at times will increase the level of physical stress experienced by workers.
  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with maintenance and repair activities in a chemical manufacturing facility. 
  • Retain knowledge of basic chemistry and chemical hazards and apply this knowledge in daily work activities.
  • Make independent judgments concerning assigned tasks, considering safety and environmental concerns
  • Safely wear and/or use required personal protective equipment.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.



  • Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of mechanical maintenance work in a chemical processing facility. 
  • Basic computer literacy, MS office suite, including email and data entry is required.  SAP competence preferred.
  • Ability to operate a forklift is required.

Ability to independently utilize Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the protection of the individual, coworkers and the environment.
