SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION
Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and indirectly to the Lead Maintenance Technician.
JOB DIMENSIONS
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, trouble-shooting production equipment. Responsibilities also include making modifications to equipment as required and upkeep of facility. This is a multi-craft position and may include work in all Maintenance disciplines including but not limited to electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, pipe fitting and welding.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs installation, repairs and modifications to production equipment, instrumentation, office equipment and physical facilities.
• Assists in trouble-shooting equipment problems.
• Calibration of instrumentation.
• Performs welding, plumbing, electrical work and other trade functions.
• Assists in the continuous development of the plant preventative maintenance program via the plant CMMS system.
• Maintains spare parts inventory systems.
• Purchases replacement parts.
• Requisitions, receives spare parts using SAP. Inspects and properly stores spare parts.
• Performs Safe Work Practices such as Confined Space Entry and Control of Hazardous Energy according to policies and procedures.
• Performs safety inspections.
• Follows all safety requirements and uses proper personal protective equipment.
• Provides off shift coverage for breakdowns, repairs and emergencies.
PLANT PROGRAM SUPPORT
• Provides data for environmental compliance.
• Supports SMART and other site/ company programs.
• Actively participates in plant Behavior Based Safety program.
• Report any HES incidents and, as appropriate, participate in incident investigations.
• Participate in Emergency Response activities and be a member of the ERT
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
• Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
• Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
• Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
• Manufacturing environment with chemical, physical, ergonomic and electrical hazards. Work includes a variety of physical and biological conditions including, but not limited to, proximity to moving mechanical parts and powered industrial trucks, exposure to hot work or steam, working at heights, working with sharp tools and exposure to slip hazards and wet areas.
• Work is primarily performed in the manufacturing complex; however, worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
• Worker is subject to atmospheric conditions, including, but not limited to, exposure to dust, chemicals, and odors.
• Works with or around hazardous substances.
• Work requires use of protective clothing and equipment.
• Scheduled hours may vary in shifts and length.
• Noise level in the work environment is below the OSHA permissible exposure limits.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma or General Education Development diploma.
• Two or more years’ experience in an industrial setting strongly preferred.
• Electrical, instrumentation, pipe fitting mechanical, millwright, and/or welding experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
