Job Dimensions & Activities

Specify and develop process technology in support of new plant design and plant improvements.  Work independently in evaluation, selection, and application of engineering practices to project requirements, including highly complex technologies.  The process work performed has significant interaction across corporate groups required to set priorities, communicate results and achieve goals.  Analyzing processes such as distillation, heat transfer, reactor design, thermodynamics, etc. and applying these analyses to:  plant design for new or improved facilities, optimization of existing operations, and/or to the troubleshooting of existing processes.  Receives broad direction concerning the required tasks and results expected including timing constraints and priorities.  Overall accountability issues include safety, corrosion prevention, asset utilization, raw material, and energy utilization, as well as waste control and minimization.  Shows originality and innovation in developing problem solutions.

 

Qualifications / Experience Required

Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.  A graduate degree e.g. Masters or Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering, or demonstrated knowledge of advanced theory and principles preferred.  10 or more years of experience with a broad knowledge in the principles and theories of Chemical Engineering as demonstrated by a history of technical accomplishments and contributions.  Breadth and depth of knowledge of the laws and rules governing the design and implementation of solutions regarding chemical processes.  These include federal laws regarding environmental compliance issues , process hazards techniques  and engineering standards.
