Senior Chemist Lab Supervisor

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the training and certification of Laboratory personnel.

Monitors operation of analytical instrumentation and data systems.

Periodically reviews existing quality procedures and analytical methods to ensure compliance with the plant quality program.

Develops and documents new analytical methods.

Ensures sufficient quantities of required consumables are on hand to avoid interruptions in laboratory operations.

Ensures efficient and timely distribution of analytical results required to support process operation and finished product disposition.

Prepares and documents locally prepared analytical standards.

Collaborates with other departments; Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Corporate personnel to define the support required and ensure that available resources are properly allocated to best meet the needs of all Laboratory activities and must comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, safety, environmental, and quality standards, and corporate policies.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or a closely related technical discipline with at least 5-7 years experience in the chemical industry is required. The ability to apply analytical thinking to the problem solving process is a major asset.  The ability to work well with all levels of plant and corporate personnel is critical. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential including knowledge and skills of computer data systems.
