Job Summary: The Safety Specialist at Arkema’s Calvert City site will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, conducting safety training, and performing regular safety audits and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees, including new hire orientation, ongoing safety education, and emergency response training.
  • Audits and Inspections: Perform regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local safety regulations and ensure the site’s compliance.
  • Safety Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits. Prepare and submit required safety reports.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills and exercises.
  • Safety Culture Promotion: Promote a culture of safety through regular communication, recognition programs, and employee engagement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a safety role, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, excellent communication and training skills, ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require occasional travel and the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and industrial equipment.
