Job Dimensions
The Electrical/Instrumentation Supervisor/Planner is responsible for plant-wide involvement in electrical distribution systems and process control systems. This role directly supervises Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians in maintenance and repair operations.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Leadership and Mentoring (10%): Provide leadership and mentoring to maintenance craftsmen to ensure superior service in support of plant operations.
- Infrastructure Assessment and Improvement (10%): Assess plant electrical infrastructure for effectiveness, recommend improvement projects, and lead their implementation.
- HVAC and Refrigeration Maintenance (5%): Oversee the maintenance of the plant’s process refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
- Work Order Management (10%): Review work requests, generate work orders, and prioritize repairs in collaboration with operations supervisors/engineers.
- Planning and Scheduling (5%): Conduct planning/scheduling meetings to efficiently provide maintenance work schedules.
- Resource Coordination (5%): Coordinate with other maintenance work groups and contractors to secure necessary resources.
- Work Order Analysis (10%): Review and analyze work orders to ensure efficient and safe completion.
- Environmental Compliance (5%): Coordinate with the Environmental department to ensure compliance with regulations and proper documentation.
- Supplier Contact (10%): Contact suppliers for MRO parts and plant supplies.
- Equipment History Maintenance (10%): Maintain the plant equipment history files.
- AIMS Support (5%): Ensure activities support the Arkema Integrated Management System (AIMS).
- Safety Meetings (5%): Conduct meaningful safety meetings and support the plant’s safety process (BST).
- Feedback Provision (10%): Provide feedback on work performed to Operations and Maintenance Engineering for documentation and analysis.
Context and Environment
The incumbent works with Management Staff, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Engineering, and hourly personnel to ensure optimal operation of plant electrical distribution systems and process controls. Compliance with external regulatory requirements (ISA, IEEE, NEC) and internal policies is mandatory.
Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or High School diploma with equivalent of 5-8 years experience as an Electrical Journeyman.
- Skills: Problem-solving, improvement skills, variable frequency drives (Allen Bradley), process instrumentation (Rosemount, PHs, Micromotion), hazards analysis and review.
- Experience: Demonstrated personnel and interpersonal supervisory skills are essential. HVAC, SAP CMMS, High Voltage experience with 13.2 & 161kV, and Six Sigma are a plus but not required.
