Job dimensions

This position purchases goods, raw materials and services to ensure that the plant operational needs are met, working directly with Bostik Corporate Direct/Indirect Purchasing

Activities
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • General and Task Management

-Purchase goods, raw materials, and services for the Calumet City, IL  plant; purchase supplier-provided tolled items for tolling plants

-Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business operations

-Prepare raw material reports and updates as needed

-Work with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements

-Create purchase orders and delivery schedules for raw materials as required using SAP; indirect materials and services using PEIGASS

-Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships

-Assess and communicate supplier issues for performance reviews to Corporate Purchasing

-Contact suppliers to resolve delivery/paperwork issues

- Work to Resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner

-Other duties as required

 

Context and environment
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Bostik (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated, and corrective actions implemented.
  • Observe safe work practices in performing all duties at all times and maintain standards of excellence in housekeeping.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations within the limits of training and qualifications.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications / experience required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2 years purchasing experience
  • 4 year B.S. without and prior purchasing experience
  • SAP experience preferred
