HR Manager - Manufacturing

The role will support 3 manufacturing sites in the Chicago area (Ringwood, Calumet City and Elk Grove).  This is a new role due to growth and a pending acquisition.  The successful candidate will lead the HR strategy and implementation for assigned sites, providing support with initiatives decided upon by business and manufacturing leaders.#LI-TJ1

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Business Partner for Client Groups
    • Establish personal credibility and build strong partnerships with leadership teams at each site and the Corporate Human Resources and Communications team.
    • Develop and maintain HR programs and procedures linked to client groups’ strategies.
    • Lead talent acquisition, on-boarding, development, hiring, promotion, and departure processes.
    • Partner with leadership teams to develop and implement workforce planning and management actions.
    • Maintain and communicate HR metrics to client groups.
    • Facilitate change effectively by understanding business needs and developing plans to introduce and drive necessary changes.
    • Foster an environment that encourages continuous individual growth and delivery of results.
  • Drive and Implement Core HR Processes
    • Partner with HR leadership, HR Business Partners, and HR COEs to implement HR programs, policies, practices, and tools.
    • Coordinate the administration of benefits for union and non-union employees.
    • Implement HR processes such as Performance Management, Talent Review, Employee Safety and Engagement Survey, and Reward & Recognition program.
    • Lead or contribute to special projects to continuously improve HR practices, processes, and data management.
    • Ensure accuracy of employee data in HRIS (SAP/MyCareer).
  • Compliance and Employee/Labor Relations
    • Ensure awareness and compliance with HR policies within client groups.
    • Address and resolve HR issues escalated by plant employees and management.
    • Provide counsel on employee and labor relations issues, utilizing legal resources when appropriate.
    • Stay current on regulations to ensure compliance and timely implementation of changes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in industrial relations, human resources management, management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of human resources experience in an industrial context.
  • Must have prior union experience.
  • Strong business insight to align organizational and HR performance objectives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influence skills.
  • Ability to act with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking with emotional intelligence.
  • Experience with HR processes and systems; knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
