Our polymer manufacturing plant in Birdsboro, PA is looking for a Shift Supervisor (12-hour).  The position reports to the Operations manager and works closely with the Production Specialist. This position is responsible for the oversight of all shift operations and employees. Directs daily plant activities as assigned by the Operations Manager in order to achieve plant goals in health, safety, environmental, quality, productivity and cost effectiveness. Coordinates all daily operations efforts and associated activities to ensure an injury-free site.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understands shift priorities and allocates resources as needed to achieve plant goals
  • Must stay current on all process areas, changes, installations and track issues or work order status to ensure resolution
  • Responsible for shift reporting; including the shift turnover log, providing explanation for production variances and manage all daily reports as required. 
  • Hold shift employees accountable for housekeeping and safety of their respective areas
  • Reinforce expecations for process discipline through use of all required tools (daily operating instructions, process data sheets, LIMS, OSI/PI, etc...)
  • Front-line assistance in troubleshooting of production problems. Work cross-departmentally to resolve problems as needed.
  • Prepare production blend sheets for finishing department. Manage material usage variances (MUV) and blocked stock
  • Prepares for and facilitates all-hands shift communication. Conduct safety meetings as needed.
  • Provide training as required (ie, LOTO)
  • Mentoring and coaching of shift employees in order to meet plant goals
  • Utilize disciplinary action as required, to encorce policies and procedures. 
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the management team, peers and subordinates
  • Sustain SMART culture daily; drive participation in meetings, identify needs within team, coach employees to enhance ownership and problem solving
  • Demonstrate safety leadership. This includes utilization of required PPE and full knowledge and administration of high-risk procedures. 
  • Perform accident/incident inversitgations and complete related computer entries
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping for production employee payroll
  • Assist in monthly accounting close as needed
  • Assume emergency coordinator in all instances of plant emergency. 
  • Actively Support the Behavior Based Safety Training (BEST)
  • Support site HES policy and comply with all regulartory and internal requirements. 
  • Support and promote the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents. 

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Proficient knowledge and use of computer systems and software
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Strong Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Must be able to work a rotating 12 hour shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays)
