What are we looking for? 

 

Arkema in Birdsboro, PA is hiring for a Project Engineer who is responsible for the successful planning, implementation, and performance of all capex project related duties and tasks for investments up to $2 million at the Birdsboro facility. Will also identify, develop, scope, and implement continuous improvement activities & projects.  This position reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager.

What are the job duties for the Project Engineer? 

 

Capital Investments

  • Responsible for managing projects capex projects. Participates in the development, management and execution of the plant’s annual and longer term CapEx panning and spending.
  • Coordinates project resources, schedules, budgets, start-ups, trial runs, and stakeholder communications to ensure timely and successful completion within budget.
  • Coordinates activities of all project team members and groups including contractors.
  • Develops monitors and maintains plant capital projects within budget requirements.

 

Continuous Improvement and Special Projects

  • Works directly with operators, engineers, technicians and outside vendors to identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Special projects as assigned to advance process and equipment goals and standards.

 

Plant and Corporate Involvement

  • Leads pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs) as well as PHAs.
  • Prepare Management of Change documentation for process and equipment changes and train personnel as required.
  • Works on Corporate and / or Plant teams to share best practices and to learn from and support other Arkema sites and initiatives as possible.

 

What are the required qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or related required, 3-5 years experience preferred.
  • Must have prior experience in leading/managing capital installation projects in a manufacturing setting.
  • Prior experience in chemical plant environment strongly preferred.
  • Developed skills in statistics, computers (spreadsheets, presentations and word processing), and technical writing are required.
  • Significant knowledge of plant maintenance excellence and techniques is required including a working knowledge of API engineering and mechanical integrity standards.
