Arkema’s Beaumont Plant is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to provide advanced technical expertise to support operations, drive continuous improvement, and enhance the performance of multiple chemical production units. This role plays a key part in optimizing safety, quality, reliability, and throughput within the Thiochemicals business unit.

 

As a senior technical resource on-site, you’ll collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, and Project Engineering to ensure stable, efficient, and compliant plant performance. This role requires strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and leadership in process optimization and troubleshooting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site process engineering expert for assigned units, including Methyl Mercaptan, Ethyl Mercaptan, Dimethyl Sulfide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Acrolein, and MMP.
  • Monitor production data, troubleshoot issues, and recommend solutions to improve throughput, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Maintain and update critical process documentation and operating standards.
  • Support major initiatives including new product introduction, technology improvements, debottlenecking, and energy optimization.
  • Provide technical support during turnarounds, abnormal events, and emergency operating scenarios.
  • Lead or support Stage-Gate projects, structured problem-solving, and root‑cause analysis (RCA).
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert, advising junior engineers and operations personnel and contributing to technical leadership across the site.
  • Manage multiple small projects while supporting ongoing improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, PSM, RMP, and internal safety programs (MSM).
  • Participate in and lead PHA reviews and provide technical input for incident investigations.
  • Develop strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills to support plant and BU objectives.
  • Work independently and communicate priorities and progress to management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, unit operations, and process troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to lead and resolve technical challenges from issue identification to implementation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
