Arkema Inc. is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Process Technology Engineer I on our Thiochemicals team. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining regional and global process technologies for the Thiochemicals Business Unit. This role involves engineering work related to process operations, process technology, capital projects, process improvement, process automation, and testing new equipment concepts. The engineer provides process technology expertise to the business, R&D, and manufacturing.

 

The Senior Process Technology Engineer I routinely collaborates with regional and global business leaders, manufacturing, R&D, and other stakeholders.

 

The Senior Process Technology Engineer reports to the Thiochemicals Process Technology Manager and works in a manufacturing environment.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

30% Safety/Environmental

  • Ensure full compliance with all safety and environmental regulatory requirements, including OSHA, PSM, RMP, and company policies and programs (MSM).
  • Complete timely technical reviews for assigned incident investigations, including Root Cause Analysis and implementation of action items.
  • Support PHA node analysis as process expert. Execute technical studies to evaluate consequences and develop project scope to close identified gaps.

 

25% Operation and Technical

  • Maximize operational efficiency and identify process improvements to reduce manufacturing cost, safety, product quality, and new product commercialization. Develop and implement solutions for the Thiochemical sites.
  • Analyze plant and pilot plant data to improve manufacturing capabilities and performance, maintaining process models using Aspen or other tools.
  • Support plant initiatives for new product development, process technology projects, and debottlenecking efforts using methodologies like Six Sigma and DOE.
  • Assist operations during plant turnarounds, emergency operations, and other times when technical assistance is needed.
  • Promote strong working relationships with business, R&D, and plants in all regions, facilitating cross-functional communication and cooperation.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to troubleshoot, solve, and document technical issues at Thiochemical sites.
  • Lead capital project efforts by assessing technical, financial, safety, and environmental impacts. Coach less experienced engineers on AGATE methodology.
  • Identify and collaborate with specialty technical resources (KOP, CETIA, or external) to support manufacturing activities.
  • Work with R&D to ensure efficient, scalable, and high-quality processes for new products, and identify laboratory-scale process research and development initiatives.
  • Lead projects to develop a comprehensive platform for Process Technology Information storage using SharePoint and other resources.
  • Mentor and provide technical and professional development to newer engineers and DEs.

 

10% Professional Development

  • Develop skills to support the Thiochemicals Group, including technical, interpersonal, mentoring, management, and community relations skills.
  • Set specific goals aligned with the group’s objectives and initiatives.
  • Work efficiently with minimal supervision, proactively recommending priorities to the manager and reporting progress.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree in chemical industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering required.
  • Strong process technology aptitude.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations and best practices.

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey process data interpretations and improvement recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to coach and mentor other engineers.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
