The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston near downtown Beaumont.  Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

 

Arkema is seeking a Reliability Engineering and Projects Manager.   The position provides leadership for all capital projects (including turnarounds) and reliability related efforts.    Works efficiently and effectively in a team environment as well as independently.  Provides leadership to a multi-discipline group to include,  Reliability, Project Engineering, Turnaround and Mechanical Integrity while promoting continuous improvement.  Ensure consistent drives towards excellence and best in class practices for both reliability programs and capital projects.  Fosters a positive teamwork environment that drives collaborative decision making by engaging and empowering employees to contribute to the plant’s strong performance.

 

 

 

The following are the job responsiblities: 

  • Drives continuous improvement efforts for the Engineering & Reliability groups via good networking, benchmarking, and training
  • Develops skills of direct reports by providing both group and individual training
  • Monitors, tracks, and drives continuous improvement of the Engineering & reliability using KPIs (TRIR, Near Misses, Mechanical Integrity equipment compliance, Compliance to Schedule, Budget Compliance, MTBF)
  • Support standard root cause investigations for asset failures in the plant
  • Develop, establish a balanced scorecard approach to improving effectiveness and efficiency metrics that link directly to the plant’s KPIs
  • Drives high performance team through onboarding, training, performance management, employee development, succession planning, and team engagement
  • Responsible for instilling best practices in pursuit of achieving team and organizational objectives
  • Direct and lead the members of the various disciplines to ensure the safe and efficient management of projects
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the department personnel
  • Motivate workforce through visibility and direct contact to ensure maximum safety and productivity
  • Counsel on performance as appropriate
  • Identify skills development and training needs to maintain highly competent department personnel
  • Work closely with Operations and Maintenance organizations to help develop and manage turnarounds.   Supports plant turnarounds preparation, execution and cost control while following Arkema recognized best practices. As needed during execution act as turnaround leader
  • Oversee CAPEX projects and Engineer work flows in a measureable way. 
  • Provide necessary back up and field support for Operations.
  • Deliver special projects that would help enhance the plants ability to plan and execute large maintenance jobs.        
  • Manage plant asset life cycles including mechanical integrity inspections
  • Lead safety efforts for the Engineering and CAPEX team
  • Work closely with HSE teams for executing and continuously improving Incident investigations, MOCs, PSI and other PSM/Environmental elements as required.
  • Takes leadership role in plant safety processes to drive HESQ improvement through BBS observations, AIMS inspections, incident analyses, and process hazard analyses.

 

A successful candidate must have: 

  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field
  • 10 –15 years of refinery or chemical plant maintenance, engineering, and project management experience
  • Extensive knowledge sound engineering and technology practices
  • Minimum 8-10 years of management experience
  • Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft suite including Excel and PowerPoint.   Strong working knowledge  leveraging analytical tools and products toward engineering initiatives.
  • Cross-functional discipline experience preferred (Operations, Rotating Equipment, Electrical and /or Instrumentation).
