​​Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Production Superintendent to support our Beaumont facility.  This position reports to the Operations Manager and has a direct interaction with the Maintenance and HES departments, process engineers, and other members of plant staff directly related to the success of the Beaumont Plant and Thiochemicals Business Unit.

 

The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston.  Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Directly manages Shift Leaders and Process Operators in the H2S and Mercaptan process areas. 
  • Recommend equipment and process modifications to improve efficiencies. 
  • Maintain active involvement in safety program to ensure safe work operations, good housekeeping, and assist in safety training of personnel.  
  • Applies strong technical support by analyzing, reviewing, and recommending changes in process to improve the H2S and Mercaptan production performance, productivity, and profitability focusing on continuous improvement. 
  • Manages the direct interaction with Maintenance, HES, and other departments for fluid communication as it relates to the H2S and Mercaptan units. 
  • Support full compliance of all safety related regulatory requirements including OSHA, PSM, RMP, and Company Policies and programs (MSM). Ensure timely implementation of incident investigations, technical review, and recommended action items (Impact).  Ensure 100% completion of safety inspections. 
  • Maximize operational efficiency by ensuring, in team with Process and Production engineers, operating at optimal conditions. Minimize unit downtime by defining priorities with Maintenance Department and help reduce costs by ensuring good coordination between maintenance and operations personnel.  Support plant initiatives for new product development, Process Technology Projects, and debottlenecking efforts from the asset owner’s perspective. 
  • Leads prioritization of maintenance work for H2S and Mercaptan with Maintenance/Safety Coordinator to ensure that work has been completed and the equipment is turned back over to operations personnel.  
  • Accountable for Overall Asset Utilization of H2S and Mercaptan chemical production units. 

 

Qualifications/Experience Required:

 

  • BS in Chemical Engineering from an accredited University preferred. 
  • 5-10 years process engineering or process management.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot chemical processing to achieve production goals.
  • Strong communication skills – written, interpersonal, verbal (including presentations skills).
  • Able to develop, coach, train and counsel others.
  • Excellent at problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with MS office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies.
