Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic to support our Beaumont facility.  At Arkema, Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for the repairs, troubleshooting efforts, and preventive maintenance of equipment at our facility while maintaining a high degree of safety awareness.  The Maintenance Mechanic works in partnership with other departments such as Production Operators, Safety, Environmental, and Maintenance Engineering.  In addition, mechanics also maintain 100% compliance with all applicable environmental and safety laws, regulations, and permit requirements that are imperative to our daily operations.   Daily responsibilities in this position must be done in an ethical manner with safety as the primary responsibility.  This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. This position has no direct reports.

 

The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston.  Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

 

This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Remove, disassemble, repair, and reinstall various plant equipment.  (i.e., pipes/valves, pumps, and compressors) 
  • Pipe fabrication and replacement/equipment isolations via blinding or gapping 
  • Plant P.M. work orders 
  • Safety and equipment inspections 
  • Perform routine maintenance duties 
  • Knowledge of spare parts system and report all inconsistencies 
  • Craftsmen training program and certifications 
  • Participates in various company and regulatory training designed to improve plant processes and/or increase unit production.
  • Performs assigned day-to-day repairs and emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, and governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Support the maintenance improvement efforts at the Beaumont plant.
  • Assist the Mechanical Planner Supervisor to ensure best-recommended safety, environmental, and engineering methods for timely and efficient task completion.

 

To be considered for this role, the following is required:

 

  • Minimum high school education, Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or related preferred.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Certified craftsmen with working knowledge of mechanical equipment and replacement parts, gained through education and/or years practical field experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience working with rotating and reciprocating industrial equipment.
  • Thoroughly understands safety and environmental requirements while working in hazardous industrial environment.
  • Understands company policies and procedures to include having a working knowledge of plant installations and specifications.
  • Experience in accepted industry procedures.
  • Knowledge of LOTO practices and processes.
  • Experience in maintenance work order processes.
