Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for Maintenance Mechanic to support our Beaumont facility.  At Arkema, Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for the repairs, troubleshooting efforts, and preventive maintenance of equipment at our facility while maintaining a high degree of safety awareness.  The Maintenance Mechanic works in partnership with other departments such as Production Operators, Safety, Environmental, and Maintenance Engineering.  This position reports directly to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. This position has no direct subordinates.

 

The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston.  Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

 

 

This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Works as a team directly with the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and Planners, Maintenance Superintendent, Maintenance Engineering, I/E Technicians, and Storekeepers.
  • Works in partnership with other departments such as Production Operators, Safety, Environmental, Engineering, Inspection, Purchasing, Quality, and Shipping.
  • Works in SAP to properly charge hours worked to Work Orders and repairing plant equipment to the best of their ability. Ensuring proper parts are used in repair of equipment.
  • Perform PM work on plant equipment to insure plant reliability as per instruction.
  • Executes implementation and maintenance of activities and procedures.
  • Able to work extended hours i.e. overtime, alternative shifts, call outs, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work in SCBA or supplied air equipment.    
  • Must be capable of working independently as well as in a Team.
  • Must have the ability to solve problems.

 

To be considered for this role, the following is required:

 

  • Minimum high school education, Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or related preferred.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Certified craftsmen with working knowledge of mechanical equipment and replacement parts, gained through education and/or years practical field experience.
  • 2 years’ experience working with rotating and reciprocating industrial equipment.
  • Thoroughly understands safety and environmental requirements while working in hazardous industrial environment.
  • Understands company policies and procedures to include having a working knowledge of plant installations and specifications.
  • Experience in accepted industry procedures.
  • Knowledge of LOTO practices and processes.
  • Experience in maintenance work order processes, SAP, Procedures and CMMS
  • Experience in Safe work Permitting processes as well as JSA experience.
