Job Title: Chemical Operator
SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION
This Position Reports to the Production / Project Leader

JOB DIMENSIONS
Jobholder will be expected to fulfill all of the requirements listed in the activities section listed below. Jobholder will be producing the Kepstan line of products. The product is produced by a two Reactor batch process. The product is then washed using two centrifuges applying a solvent / water wash solutions. The wet cake is then loaded into FIBC containers for intermediate storage. Material is then batch loading into a vacuum tumble drier and processed until dry. Once dry the material is transferred to a packaging hopper and packed out into its final package. Jobholder will also rotate into the distillation unit that will rework solvent used in the initial production of Kepstan products. Trouble shooting to correct problems within their work area is critical. Needs good communication skills and able to work well with others. All job functions must be conducted using all safety and environmental procedures and systems. Accurate reporting and computer system entries are critical. Jobholder needs to be self-motivated and require little supervision. KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Jobholder will execute daily activities with limited direct supervision.
 Jobholder will work a 3/2 shift rotating nights and days.
 Establish site safety requirements and issue safe work permits as need to execute daily activities. This includes both Arkema employees and contract employees.
 Expected to conduct daily safety briefings with outside contractors.
 Jobholder will use Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to document operating guidelines and necessary process data.
 Responsible for issuing safe work permits during any demolition and construction phase of the project.
 Expected to develop and maintain a good working relationship with multiple outside contractor groups along with interplant departments during project development and execution phases.
 Jobholder will be required to rotate into all jobs for the unit and no dedicated control room operator job will exist.
 Jobholder will be working using procedures, temporary procedures and MOC’s.
 Ability to troubleshoot to correct problems is critical.
 Accurately entering data into computer systems. CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
The environment for this position will be within the Production Department. Training will be conducted within the Production and Safety departments for all requirements to fulfill this job.

 Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka, MOC’s, LO/TO, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
 Review their work area for potential losses and report hazards to the direct supervisor.
 Report incidents or accidents to the direct supervisor.
 Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
 Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
 Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
 Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
 High School Diploma or equivalent.
 2 -5 years of manufacturing experience required. Chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
 Good inter-personal and communication skills.
 Good understanding of production processes.
 Experience with use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PI. DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES
 The ability to work independently without requiring constant supervision.
 Requires a high degree of self-motivation.
