Job Title: Chemical Operator
SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION

This position reports to the Production Shift Leader

JOB DIMENSIONS
Jobholder will be producing Durastrength and Plastistrength products. The product is produced as a latex in Reactors in a batch process. The Latex is then dried in a continuous process and packaged into several different package sizes. Trouble shooting to correct problems within their work area is critical. Needs good communication skills and able to work well with others. All job functions must be conducted using all safety and environmental procedures and systems. Accurate reporting and computer system entries are critical. Jobholder needs to be self-motivated and require little supervision.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Jobholder will be operating a DCS from the Control Room, producing latex and monitoring the Dryers. Several checks are required on Electronic files as well as entries on paper copies of batch sheets. Jobholder holder will be required to perform work in the field. Activities include prepping raw materials for batches, transferring batches to storage, cleaning storage tanks, and monitoring the Dryers. It is critical for the Operators in the Control Room and Field to stay in constant communication for safety and proper operation of the unit. Jobholder will be working using procedures, temporary procedures, and MOC’s. They will need to trouble shoot to correct problems within their work area. Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word usage is a requirement of the job functions. CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
The environment for this position will be within the Production Department. Training will be conducted within the Production and Safety departments for all requirements to fulfill this job.

 Follow HES and Operating Discipline procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
 As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations
 Understands and executes Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events in the process.
 Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka SP, SOP, PWI, TM, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
 Review their work areas for potential losses and Report hazards to the direct supervisor.
 Report Near Misses to the direct supervisor.
 Report Incidents or Accidents to the direct supervisor.
 Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
 High School Diploma or equivalent.
 Good inter-personal and communication skills.
 Good understanding of production processes.
 Experience with use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PI.

Self-motivated individual able to perform multiple tasks at once with minimum supervision
