**Criteria for a VIE assignment in China : Between the ages of 18 and 28; of European nationality; Not having done a VIE before; higher education (Master's or engineering degree) and 2 years’ professional experience after obtaining the diploma (sandwich courses and work placements not taken into account)***

Objectives:

Ensure R&D activities in compliance with HSEQ and operational requirements. The R&D engineer will engage in both Product Development and Internal Technical Service activities. Support core and new business development from both a technical service and product development standpoint. Ensure product development project output/milestone in timely manner with good quality and efficiency. Ensure product development projects strictly following the Stage-Gate process and execute and promote the NPD projects according to the Bostik’s process. Conduct and support pilot trial of NPD new formulas. Effectively delivering product function and technical service to meet customer existing requirement on Bostik product and service. Generate product recommendations for customer end use, execute in-house lab testing Effective problem solving of product or technical service-related challenges from customers. Travel required (<20%)

Description of the Mission:

Product Development (40%): Develop new products for different markets, run formula design in a scientific way (DOE, DFQ), follow Bostik project management tools (stage gate, clarity, etc). Synthesis, formulating and testing of novel HMPUR products for EA markets.

Technical Assurance: Provide technical support to target/potential customers and Bostik manufacturing plants. Support to scale up of new products from laboratory to full commercialization.

Knowledge management: Deliver project documentation and communication in the form of internal technical reports/presentations and external publications (when appropriate). Record keeping, data analysis and progress report preparation.

Internal Technical Service (40%): Provide technical support for existing products, applications, and markets in Asia-pacific region or for global projects.

NPD support: Support TS team by realizing testing in the lab and consolidating results in customer facing reports ; complete benchmarking studies. Work with PLM and PD team to prepare launch package. Regular tests and reports according to sales team or customer requests. Operation guideline to customers. Deal with customer complaints in time and provide high quality report. Provide quality support for commercial products according to plant requests.

Respond to customer complaints: Collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Update constantly knowledge on new technologies and applications.

Business Development (5%): Support Marketing/Sales initiatives to convey product capabilities, benchmarking studies and assist in the use of new technology transfer.

System and Procedures (10%): Comply 100% with EHS and Quality management system policies and requirements.

Reporting (5%): Provide regular reports as required (internally and to customers).

Profil Recherché

 Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Polymer science, or related field.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external resources.

Adaptable in a fast growing and dynamic business environment as a team player. Possess an open, enthusiastic, creative, and innovative team spirit.

Good data analysis skills.

Experience with adhesive and sealant chemistries, or coatings end uses and formulations preferred.

Excellent computer and presentation skills.

Fluent in English (speaking/writing). Ability to speak Chinese is preferred.
