POSITION SUMMARY

The production supervisor is the leader of a shift of production, ensuring all employees are working safely, efficiently, and following all company procedures in a fast paced, union environment with changing priorities.  This is a rotating shift position that includes weekends and holidays. 

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING.

  • Works closely with the Plant Manager, Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Process Engineers, and Materials Manager to establish and meet day to day production goals.
  • Independently makes decisions for plant production on the off-shifts to ensure production goals are achieved.
  • Acts as an incident commander during emergencies.
  • Willing to work any shift and can cover other shifts as needed.
  • Schedules and Manages labor pool in a Union environment.
  • Assist in writing and reviewing JSA, SOP’s and other Work Instructions
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal including Title V Air Permitting, RCRA, PSM, RMP and OSHA
  • Train operators on different tasks associated with area jobs.
  • Works with Maintenance in scheduling and work order execution
  • Writes permits and completes risk analyst for life critical programs (LOTO, Line Break, Hot Work, ect.)
  • Trouble Shoots equipment and implements new methods and materials to reduce failure frequency.
  • Recognizes the successful efforts of employees to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve work processes.
  • Maintains a high safety standard by conducting safety meetings, participating in BBS programs as well as SWOT analysis.
  • Maintain plant housekeeping in a “tour ready” condition at all times
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective function of the department and the plant.
  • Assist chemical operators as needed which includes charging and packaging mixers including wearing appropriate PPE which may include wearing a respirator.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds safely.
  • Safely operate an industrial lift truck (sit down and stand up)
  • Uses SAP to confirm production and help manage inventory.

 

 

 

 

IN ORDER TO BE QUALIFIED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

  • Minimum 5 years’ chemical plant manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Must be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
  • Must be willing to accept the role of incident command during an emergency.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within the manufacturing process area
  • The ability to identify critical operational issues and formulate action plans with all levels of plant personnel is required.  In addition, the ability to develop and foster positive work environment within work groups and ability to resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills is essential.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
